1 Week Old Today!!!

It is hard for me to believe, but today Jack and Cole are 1 week old.  They had a very busy weekend and have made lots of progress.

Both boys are now taking all their feedings by bottle, and Jack is quite the eater.  He gets very cranky if you try and take his bottle away before he is done.

Jack has a little bit of Jaundice and so Friday they decided that he should officially become a Florida Beach Bum in order to get rid of his jaundice.  They put him under the UV lights and gave him Ray Charles style glasses....he was not amused!  The nurse actually said she has never seen a baby his size throw such a fit.  He arched his back and did a back bend, turned himself over, kicked his feet, and was all in all quite unhappy!!  I thought he looked adorable, however they eventually had to strap him down so he wouldn't use up all the food we just put in his belly.

Cole on the other hand is much more relaxed.  In fact, he actually sleeps through most of his feedings, and then after he is done with his bottle proceeds to open his eyes and look around like, "What, where'd the food go?"  Cole still has to stay in the isolette so that he can stay warm as he still has a little trouble regulating his own body temperature, but they are sure that once he gains a little more body fat he will have no problems at all.

Both boys have officially stopped losing weight and are almost up to their birth weight.  They both weigh 4 lbs 1 oz and each have gained almost a 1/2 inch in length in just 1 week.  The nurses are all in love with them...duh, and think that they are looking more and more like each other as time goes by.  Cole's hair is a little lighter than Jack's hair, and by lighter I mean his hair is white, but other than that they ARE pretty similar.

On Saturday a visit from the grandparents left both the boys and the grandparents totally in love!!  Jack and Cole loved being fed and rocked and even managed to hold hands and show off their goofy smiles.

Last day of Cole's IV!!

Getting ready for Jack's car seat test

Both boys had their IVs removed this weekend, and the Drs. say that the boys are doing so well that he thinks they will probably go home a little later this week.  Johnny and I could not be more excited to have them home, and FINALLY get out of the hospital.  In preparation to go home, Jack has had his hearing tested (and passed), and will have his car seat tolerance test today, and hopefully Cole will have these tests early this week so he can be prepared to go home as well!
